In Mumbai, the CBI has filed a chargesheet against income-tax officer Sandeep Singh. Singh, who was on deputation with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as an assistant director, is accused of accepting a bribe in August. He was leading an ED search operation at a jeweller's residence in Mumbai related to a money laundering case involving a Chinese-controlled investment app. Following the search, Singh allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the jeweller, threatening to arrest his son if the money was not paid. The jeweller contacted the CBI, leading to Singh's arrest after he collected the bribe in Delhi. Singh, whose bail plea was denied by the sessions court, is currently in custody.
